Our biggest festival to date, with more companies & performances than ever before. Starting at noon, on Friday 23rd July, until Sunday 25th July, almost 20 companies performed over 20 hours of dance throughout Manchester City Centre & Bury; including our young men’s project, STRIDE. Among the performances were Resonance Dance‘s ‘Forgotten Ghosts’ and Company Chameleon with their brand new, ‘Search & Find’, both commissioned by Dance Manchester for Urban Moves.
Among the fantastic array of contemporary dance & aerial dance was another duet between a dancer & mechanical digger; this time by France’s Transport Exceptionnels. The Bicycle Ballet also captured the imagination of the crowds with 80 local people dancing & cycling in visually spectacular and humourous formations; inspired by people’s cycling experiences. Urban Moves’ reputation for bringing cutting-edge international contemporary dance to the streets of Manchester was now well established.
